By Altherien Taurenean

The crafting of this weapon should only be attempted by those smiths who have completed at least 1 year’s worth of apprenticeship.

A Lolthiriel Blessed Blade is for all intents and purposes an enchanted blade and has all the same properties of one. The advantages of such a blade over the more conventional enchanted weapons, that it requires neither rare metals or materials nor a great expenditure of time and power in a ritual circle. It does however require a Lolthiriel blessed gem, created by an experienced student of the incantors colleges of the stars or moon, but agreements have been reached for these to be produced in great enough quantity to meet the requirements of our war effort.

Materials Required

  • Metal Bars
  • Leather
  • Blessed Gem of Lolthiriel
  • Blessed Smithing Temper
  • Blessed Smithing Hammer

Method

It is essential that you use your blessed smithing hammer during the forging of these swords. The metal of the blade is prepared for and attuned to the magic of the gem by the resonance of your hammer blows as you shape the blade.

1. Heat the metal bars in the forge until malleable

2. Use the blessed smithing hammer to shape the metal into the shape of a blade on the anvil, as per normal. Ensure that the pommel is shaped to accept the blessed gem.

3. Quench the finished blade with the blessed smithing temper. Be aware this will not be nearly sufficient to cool the blade fully, so do not touch it with bare hands until it has fully cooled. The blessed smithing temper is the final part of attuning the blade to accept the enchantment from the gem.

4. Insert the blessed gem into the pommel of the sword and attach it firmly.

5. Repeat the following prayer over the blade once you work is finished.

  • “You will never be forgotten by the Clans of Duanrahel,
  • I call upon you to answer the prayers of your faithful,
  • And imbue this blade with your power,
  • So that we may smite those, who have abjured your memory.”

6. Passed the blade to apprentice to wrap the hilt in leather
