Fey came to Erdreja from Arcadia like most Elder races to help Erdreja grow, as such they took little interest in the war between the elves and so very few followed the Dark Elves into the Underdark. This makes fey uncommon, but not unheard of in the Underdark.
Fey can take any number of forms or appearances, borrowing heavily from most folk lore of fairy-folk.
Fey covers quite a wide range of looks and styles, and there is certainly no right way. It is common to see fey with markings (often called a glamour) that may be personal or denote a clan/family.
Fey are an unusual addition to the Underdark, but not unheard of. Most of the fey races that are local to the Underdark, such as the Gloura, are quite insane and wouldn’t normally co-operate with the faction.
It is more common for fey from the Heartlands to have migrated to the Underdark / Tarantula Faction.
Humans arrived on Erdreja from another world and as a result are considered neither elder nor younger race. You will either have entered the Underdark as a slave or have fled the surface world as part of large group, because after all things couldn’t be worse down there, could they? Humans are often the lowest of the low in the Underdark and only through exceptional talent or ability do they survive at all.
Humans are the most prevalent race on Erdreja, and there is no shortage of them within the Tarantula Faction either. However, within the Underdark society they typically fill service, or sacrificial roles.
Uruks/Ologs (Greenskins) were for the most part originally brought down into the Underdark as slaves and many remain slaves to this day. If you wish to play a greenskin, this could be as an individual within a house, whose exceptional talents have merited their inclusion in the party travelling to the surface gatherings or as a group, whose ancestors escaped their Drow masters and have managed to survive as a clan ever since.
Uruks/Ologs can be a very makeup intensive race, although many choose to use a mask. This limits makeup required and easily adds facial features.
If you are wishing to use make up it is worth noting that as of the latest version of the Rules (v4) the use of block black or brown makeup is not allowed within Lorien Trust events.
Expect to be looked down upon by the Drow/Elves/Norns, but have your own pride, after all your abilities got you where you are now. Most Erdrejans have certain expectations of all things green and this may allow you certain leeway with behaviours that might not be tolerated from other races. Greenskins will generally wear rags, furs and leathers.
Beastkin are a younger race, descended from the Fey. Your affinity would need to be with a creature at home hunting in the Caverns of the Underdark and for whatever reason you have chosen to make your home here. You could either be associated with one of the Drow Houses or a free roving pack.
Beastkin will often opt for a two-tone (or more!) stripe across the eyes. This is created by starting with a wide base colour stripe, then tightly closing your eyes and applying a second narrower stripe across the eyes. The natural pull and wrinkling of closing your eyes creates a more natural tone shift in colours.
Of course, there are many types of beastkin! Another common option for scaled beastkin is to use netting to create a scaled effect when applying their makeup.
Beastkin often have a distinctive two-colour stripe across their eyes and frequently wear furs. They will commonly be tribalistic and will tend to stick close to their tribe/family. If creating your own clan or tribe background, please submit it to the plot team and they will be happy to work with you to add it to Tarantulan society.
Elves are one of the 4 Elder Races of Erdreja, created by the dragons in an attempt to hatch the unborn egg (Erdreja). Since the dragons abandoned their attempts, the Elves have made their own way, not always successfully. Elves are few and far between in the Underdark, because of the events of the Sundering and the transformation living in the Underdark wrought on those that did. Playing an Elf would require a reason for migrating into the Underdark and not being killed by the Drow (or a background as to why your ancestors weren’t transformed into Drow in this case please mail the plot team This email address is being protected from spambots.
