On the nature of forging our powerful weapons

By Grandmaster Aysha Tepes

The species of Erdreja are woven into the pattern of the egg. Each one has its place within the whole, whether elder or not of this plane. Four being an important number for the dragon, as we learnt in the Cataclysm each race falls within group of four. Each race is sensitive to a metal or gem, and depending on which method of forging is used the skilled weaponsmith can create a weapon powerful enough to affect the pattern of a being, or cause it bane. For the Elder and Younger races water must be used to forge their bane, or air to affect them. For those not originally from Erdreja , the existential beings such as humans and the planar beings such as daemons additional quenching using earth is required. The materials used must be extremely pure, causing the process to be an expensive yet rewarding experience. The words below should be learnt by all children who’s future lies in the pure joy of hammer, anvil and patience.

First you have the elders, those that have dwelt on the egg for thousands of years, the first races of metal; hurt by quenched air, baned by the quenching by water;
The Dwarves who love their Gold learn the hard way that with a purity of purpose it becomes their bane;
The Fey, always in fear of the Iron and rightly so;
The Elves should learn to loath the madness metal, Mercury;
Ologs, big as they are, run from the pain of beautiful Silver
As Erdreja likes fours, so she likes balance. Oricalcum is the balance, and the bane of the Elders.

Second you have the Youngers, sons and daughters of the dragon; The first races of jewels; Weaponsmiths remember the air or water in your works;
Urucks who bleed red, bleed more with the bloodstone, Ruby;
Weefolk fear the stone of the new spring, Amethyst pale and purple as a new dawn;
Dark Elves in their envy will be cut by the green Emerald;
Beastkin, strong and quickened the strength of the Diamond;
The balance and bane of the Youngers is Mithril, stronger than the metals of the Old days.

Third are those from through the void, from another plane; For the Planar, second of the metal races the earth must be used with the air or water to quench our works;
Daemons, tricksy and cunning, can be caught out by shiny Gold;
Ancestral, a new secret, closely guarded for the Heartlands;
We know not the other two, for two there surely are; Umbral and Elemental in their nature;
Will you study for the answers, dear smith?
The balance and bane of the Planars is the balance of the metals.

Fourth the races from other worlds, Existential in the nature, the second race of jewels, like the children of the void need to feel the quenching of the earth;
Humans, we who walk in our thousands, should beware the green stone of the Dark Elves;
We know not the other three, for three there must be; Beast, Plant and Mineral races;
Tell me child, will you find the key?
The gems provide balance and bane to existential beings.
The creature of change, full of more than one race, those of the fullest of moons are all alone on the egg, for they have the diamonds when forged with chaos and air or water. Were creatures beware the chaos in your patterns, for it will be your undoing.

The hardest of our works, those that affect the state of our beings must be forged with links to their opposites to truly hurt their kind;
Living be cautious, forging your hurt with air or bane with water and you will create a link to that other plane, Unlife;
Unliving rejoice, forging your hurt will allow you to experience once more the purity of life as the link is created with air or water;
But for both the balance required is the most complex, beautiful Obsidian, black as Voivre’s eyes, made from complete balance of all our metals and gems.
